The court also said if the civic bodies could "at even one place show that regulations was being enforced, "the mindset of the people of Delhi would change".

It said enough opportunities have been given to the municipal corporations to enforce the law "but no one wants to do it".

The matter came up before the bench Mon as the neighborhood authorities were seeking a modification with regard to the police station which would be responsible for implementing the court's November 15 direction to eliminate encroachments from the area.

Mumbai Man Cleared To Fly Homemade Aircraft, Names It After PM Modi

A resident of Mumbai, Amol Yadav sold his house and spent Rs. 4 crore to build a six-seater airplane on a rooftop of a building in Kandivali.

MUMBAI: Amol Yadav may be just one man but he has managed to do what many of India's larger enterprises haven't been able to. The journey wasn't easy but at the end of a six-yr endeavour that included selling his home and a daunting fight against reddish colored tape, Mr Yadav's dreams have taken wings - only the trip is still left. The aircraft enthusiast has not only managed to build a functioning plane by himself, he in addition has managed to move the clunky bureaucracy into granting him a license to fly it.

"The DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation) provides provided a registration certificate to pilot Amol Yadav," a statement from Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis' office said on Monday. It was on the Chief Minister's request that PM Narendra Modi's himself intervened to ensure that Mr Yadav could finally prevent going around in circles with the aviation regulator.

Grateful, he has dedicated his aircraft's registration to Mr Fadnavis and PM Modi. "The registered name of the aircraft is definitely VT-NMD or Victor Tango Narendra Modi Devendra," Mr Yadav told NDTV.

A resident of Mumbai, Mr Yadav sold his home and spent Rs. 4 crore to create a six-seater airplane on a rooftop of a building in Kandivali. In 2016, it was put on display at an exhibition under the Make in India scheme. But the permission for a test flight eluded him.

Before PM Modi's intervention, Mr Yadav alleges, the DGCA not only sat on his application for years but also changed old rules that would have allowed him to fly the aircraft. But it was his incessant advertising campaign that ultimately forced the rules to be changed.

"The rules will prevent huge losses to the Indian exchequer because people like me and more will be able to make planes. They will be able to get the planes authorized and fly them too," he said.

But having done all of this, Mr Yadav is not kicking back, relaxing in the convenience of his success. He says he is already started the work on a 19-seater aircraft.

Trump Sets North Korea Back On State Sponsors Of Terrorism

WASHINGTON: President Donald Trump on Monday announced that his administration has re-designated North Korea while a state sponsor of terror, a move aimed at increasing pressure on Pyongyang a decade after the George W. Bush administration eliminated the rogue nation from the list.

Trump made his decision public during a brief photo op at a Cabinet meeting, calling it "a very critical step" that "should've happened a long time ago." The president cited assassinations by dictator Kim Jong Un's regime carried out on foreign soil, and also the treatment of American college pupil Otto Warmbier, who died in June days after he was released in a coma by the North after spending 17 a few months in captivity.

Trump vowed that Pyongyang will face further sanctions in the near future and that this will be the "highest level of sanctions by the time it's finished." White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders amplified the message on Twitter.

"POTUS announced that the U.S. is again designating North Korea circumstances sponsor of terror," she tweeted.

The White Home had signaled during Trump's Asia trip this month that the president was likely to produce the designation. The North spent 10 years on that list before getting taken out in 2008 by the Bush administration for conference nuclear inspection requirements. Pyongyang afterwards violated the agreement.

In a speech to the South Korean national assembly two weeks ago, Trump cited atrocities completed by the Kim regime and called the North "a hell that no person deserves." Among other works, Kim's regime stands accused of carrying out the assassination of his half-brother, Kim Jong Nam, with a deadly nerve agent at a Malaysian airport in February.

Iran, Sudan and Syria also are on the list, which is administered by the State Department. According to that agency, sanctions for those nations on the list include "restrictions on U.S. foreign assistance; a ban on defense exports and sales; specific handles over exports of dual use items; and miscellaneous economic and other restrictions."

Last month, a bipartisan group of House members wrote to Secretary of Condition Rex Tillerson urging him to add North Korea to the list, citing the deaths of Warmbier and Kim Jong Nam.

"Such acts are not isolated events, but part of a consistent pattern by the Kim regime," stated the letter, signed by Rep. Edward Royce, R-Calif., chairman of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs and Rep. Eliot Engel, D-N.Y., the committee's ranking Democrat, among others.

Michael Green, who served seeing that senior Asia director in the National Security Council under Bush from 2001-2005, said the removal of the North from the terror-sponsor list was "very controversial" and turned out to be a "crappy deal" that Pyongyang quickly violated. He added that the Japanese government had lobbied the Bush administration not to remove the North in 2008 until Pyongyang brought resolution to Tokyo's promises that the North experienced kidnapped at least 17 Japanese citizens in the 1970s.

During his go to Tokyo fourteen days ago, Trump met with families of the dozen Japanese abductees whose cases have not been resolved.

Germany Bans Children's Smartwatches Over Spying Concerns

Germany's telecoms regulator said on Friday it was banning the sale of "intelligent watches" that can be used by parents to check on their children, saying the products violated Germany's strict surveillance laws.

The Federal Network Agency said it had already taken action against several firms that sell the watches online but did not name them.

It urged parents to destroy the watches, which are widely available on the German market and target children between the ages of 5 to 12.

"Via an app, parents can use such watches to secretly listen to a child's environment. They are to be seen as a prohibited transmitter," Jochen Homann, president of the agency, said in a statement. "Our investigation has also proven that parents have used the watches to listen to teachers in the classroom."

The decision follows the agency's decision in February to ban distribution of a talking doll, saying its software could be hacked to reveal personal data.

The agency's actions reflect growing concerns about the security and privacy risks associated with the exploding number of smart gadgets, often called the "internet of things".

Surveillance is a particularly sensitive issue in Germany where East Germany's Stasi secret police and the Nazi era Gestapo kept a close watch on the population.

The agency said the watches in question include a SIM card and provide a limited telephone function which can be controlled via an app, similar to baby monitoring gadgets.

By programming the watches to call a telephone number, they can be utilized to secretly pay attention to conversations, an work that is prohibited under German regulation, the agency said.

It urged universities to be vigilant approximately the use of such smart watches.

Egg prices hit a high, now as costly seeing that chicken

Egg prices have gone through the roof, so much so that at current retail rates of around Rs 7 per piece, it could be more worthwhile for people to eat chicken instead.
Poultry farmers in the Pune region are now selling eggs at Rs 585 for every 100 pieces, which translates into a price of Rs 6.5-7.5 a piece at the retail end. That works out to Rs 120-135 in per kg terms, taking an average egg weight of about 55 grams - which isn’t far too below the Rs 130-150 levels at which dressed chicken is certainly retailing in Pune.
Over the last six months, farm-gate prices of eggs in Pune have risen from Rs 375 to Rs 585 per 100 parts, even as the prices for live broiler birds have crashed from Rs 90 to under Rs 60 per kg.
“Egg prices usually rise at this time due to winter demand, while broiler rates fall because supply goes up, with the birds taking less time to reach slaughter weight. But we have never seen this sort of price spiral in eggs before,” said a leading egg products manufacturer based in Erode, Tamil Nadu.

Raju Bhosale, executive member of the National Egg Coordination Committee (NECC), attributed the jump in prices to an estimated 15 per cent increase in demand. That, in turn, has been primarily driven by vegetable prices. Onions and tomatoes are today retailing at Rs 40-50 per kg, while ranging also higher at Rs 60-100 for cabbage, cauliflower and brinjal. “When vegetables turn costly, people switch to eggs, pushing up its rates as well. This is simple substitution effect,” claimed Bhosale.
M P Sateesh Babu, chairman of the Mysore zone of NECC (which is an association of poultry farmers and traders), however, sought to link the price spike to demonetisation. The collapse of demand from the sudden withdrawal of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 denomination notes from circulation led to lower realisations for eggs along with broilers. Farm-gate prices for both averaged below last year’s levels right until July (see table at bottom).

“Simultaneously, drought in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu caused prices of maize, the main input for poultry production, to hit record Rs 1,900 per quintal levels. As poultry farmers were squeezed between low realisations and high costs, many of them resorted to premature culling of their birds, the effects of which are being sensed today on the supply aspect,” noted Babu.
One indicator of this is lower inter-area trade that ensures clean supply of eggs across the country. India’s poultry market is divided into 25 zones. “The Namakkal zone alone, for instance, witnesses normal arrivals of 3.5 crore eggs per day. This area normally also feeds the North Indian market, whereas in the current year, there has been very little inter-zone transport of eggs, including from Namakkal,” Babu said.
But why has the cost recovery, courtesy supply pressure, been sharper in the case of eggs than broiler? The response, according to the earlier-quoted egg products manufacturer from Erode, is simple. The broiler production routine is much shorter. A day-previous chick weighing 40 g or so takes just 40-42 days to achieve a live bird pounds of 2-2.5 kg, when it ready to be sold for slaughter. That time is even lower, 37-38 days, during wintertime.

On the other hand, when it comes to egg-laying birds (“layers”), the minimum period needed for the chicks to grow for creation to start is 18 weeks. A typical commercial coating would give roughly 330 eggs until it is 72 weeks old. During the peak production period from around 27 to 40 weeks, the bird will lay an egg every 26-27 hours, going up to 32-33 hours at the end of 72 weeks.
“When egg prices are goods, farmers may maintain the birds till 90 weeks, even if laying happens only once in 35-36 hours. This time, since egg rates were very low till July, with broiler realisations somewhat better, many level farmers went in for early culling. It provides impacted supplies now, just when demand is normally peaking,” the manufacturer explained.
Considering that egg production isn’t going to recover since fast as broiler, consumers may have to wait for a few weeks for prices to ease. In the meantime, it could be better for them to have chicken.
